On 21 May, Kirovsky Zavod Celebrated Its Jubilee — 215th Anniversary of Its Foundation

About 2,000 Kirovsky Zavod workers, their family members, as well as residents of Kirovsky District, heads of city and district administrations and company's business partners took part in the event.

Traditional exhibition of Kirovsky Zavod subsidiaries was deployed in the open air: industrial and agricultural Kirovets tractors, as well as an innovative wagon of NeVa project for St. Petersburg Metro. By the example of exposition, the event participants could trace the evolution of national agricultural engineering: from Universal tractor, which has been manufactured by the enterprise in 1920s, till the state-of-the-art developments of the company - crawler-mounted industrial tractor Kirovets K-744R-Prom. A prototype of prospective tractor of medium capacity Kirovets K-708.4 was also demonstrated to the public - it was developed by JSC St. Petersburg Tractor Plant (subsidiary of JSC Kirovsky Zavod) jointly with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation in 2015 under the import substitution programme. Furthermore, the guests of the plant were also awaited by an exhibition of firefighting machines.

Director General of JSC Kirovsky Zavod Georgy Semenenko delivered a welcoming speech to the participants of the celebration: "Yes, today it is not an easy time, but we, the Kirovtsys, do not give in! Sometimes, despite circumstances, we manage to achieve significant success. The whole country knows now about the achievements of the Petersburg Tractor Plant, which implements the promise of the same Nikolay Ivanovich Putilov: "to serve Russia and beat the pants off a foreigner". In today's language it is called "import substitution". Universalmash Plant, after the difficult months of forced downtime, is currently gaining momentum for implementation of a major state order. Kirov-Energomash completes construction of steam turbine set for flag ice-breaker "Arktika" and accomplishes manufacture of charging turbine sets for first two serial ice-breakers of 22220 project.

Chairman of the Committee on Industrial Policy and Innovations of St. Petersburg Maksim Meyksin and Head of Administration of Kirovsky District Sergey Ivanov, present among officials, greeted Kirovtsys and stressed the importance of projects of Kirovsky Zavod for the city economy.

During the official part, a ceremony of awarding the best workers of the company titles "Honorary Kirovets", "Honorary Veteran of JSC Kirovsky Zavod" and badge "To Young Kirovets for success in labour" was held.

Concert and entertainment programme included performances by a silent drill team of the Western Command Staff, show group of drummer girls "Malaya Okhta" and music band "Cossacks' post". At the final of the holiday, honorary artist of the Russian Federation Tatyana Bulanova held a concert. After the concert, she noted in particular that it was her third performance at Kirovsky Zavod. This enterprise, according to the artist, is a legendary place, where many important events took place, and unique machines have been and are being produced. "Kirovsky Zavod is a symbol of St. Petersburg," told Tatyana Bulanova. "Being here is just like being at Eiffel Tower in Paris."

The Day of Zavod has been traditionally celebrated since 1988 and takes place on the last Saturday of May. The holiday gathers between two and four thousand people, most of whom are company's employees and their family members. As honorary guests, the event welcomes heads of city and district administrations, representatives of business community, and veterans of the enterprise. On this day, the company awards the best staff members, as well as shows its latest developments and achievements in industrial and social spheres.
