NeVa Train Being First Under the New Contract Will Be Supplied to the Petersburg Metro in March

On 29 February, Kirovsky Zavod was visited by the Chairman of the St. Petersburg Transport Committee Aleksandr Golovin. During the visit, he learnt about implementation of the contract for the supply of NeVa project trains for the Petersburg Metro, company's competences in escalator construction, and attended the tractor assembling production site.

During the working visit, the Chairman of the St. Petersburg Transport Committee Aleksandr Golovin, his Deputy Oleg Matveev and First Deputy of SUE Petersburg Metro Evgeny Kozin visited the shop of the joint venture of Kirovsky Zavod and Czech company Skoda Transportation, where innovative trains of NeVa project are being produced. Guests learnt the progress of the contract for the supply of 48 hi-tech carriages for Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya Line of the city underground. The first of eight trains will arrive to the depot Nevskoye of Petersburg Metro in March 2016. The last one - in June 2017.

NeVa project trains that have no analogues in Russia are made of light weight materials and equipped with asynchronous motors. Traction actuation of the train ensures 25% of energy saving in traction mode if compared to traditional solutions. The system of pneumo suspension of car trucks reduces the outer noise level when moving and decreases vibration of the train on the curve and at stops. At the same time, NeVa advantageously differs from the products of competitors not only by technical properties and saving factor, but also by enhanced comfort for passengers. Thus, new carriages are more spacious, have high-quality noise insulation, and are equipped with modern ventilation system and LED lighting.

Director General of JSC Kirovsky Zavod Georgy Semenenko and representatives of Russian-Czech enterprise told the guests about the work on production localization, the level of which will reach 65%, and about cooperation of the joint venture with domestic suppliers. Thus today, the NeVa project trains already use parts, units and materials of 65 Russian manufacturers. Samples of their products were also presented to the meeting participants.
As a continuation of the visit, the guests learnt about the project for production of tunnel escalators of new generation for the metro. Narrow-balustrade Kirovsky Tunnel Escalator (KTE) is a unique product that has no analogues in Russia. It has been created with respect to the experience in operation of Khristich-model escalators earlier released by Universalmash, but on another technological platform and with the use of new engineering solutions.

Development of KTE was conducted by Construction Bureau of Universalmash Plant in close interaction with and with respect to wishes of underground services of Moscow and St. Petersburg. Thanks to new technical solutions, KTE combines high productivity and reliability with competitive price that is 20% lower the average market price of escalators of other producers. By the example of the prototype, the guests were shown the safety and reliability of the device, easiness of assembling and dimensional advantages of the escalator (4 inclined passages instead of 3 passages of standard models of escalators in tunnel with the width of 7,800 mm).
Then, the guests visited the assembling and welding production site and the main tractor assembling conveyor of St. Petersburg Tractor Plant, and took part in the talks dedicated to participation of Kirovsky Zavod subsidiaries in the development of transport infrastructure of St. Petersburg.
We would remind that innovation trains of NeVa project are already familiar to Petersburgers. Today, 9 such trains are used at Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya Line of Petersburg Metro, which have been manufactured by the joint venture of Kirovsky Zavod and ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION under the previous contract.
