Kirovsky Zavod and St Petersburg sign agreement to modernize metallurgy and energy systems

Kirovsky Zavod CEO Georgy Semenenko and Vice Governor of St Petersburg Maxim Sokolov sign an agreement to modernize metallurgy and energy systems

St Petersburg and Kirovsky Zavod have signed an agreement to work together on an investment project aimed at modernizing metallurgical production and energy systems for the Kirovsky Zavod group. The agreement was signed at the St Peterburg International Economic forum on June 3, 2021.

The event was attended by Vice Governor of St Petersburg Maxim Sokolov, Chairman of the St Petersburg Committee for Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade Kirill Soloveichik, and Kirovsky Zavod CEO Georgy Semenenko.

Kirovsky Zavod will be acquiring a new, modern high-tech plant for low-tonnage production of special steels and alloys and a new 24.9 MW gas-piston power plant.

“As an industry leader, Kirovsky Zavod has implemented many federal investment projects in recent years. This includes the launch of a new line of tractors, the creation of a unique test bench for ship steam turbines, the modernization of turbine production, and more. Today, we are able to carry out even the most advanced energy and metallurgy projects. This project will create more than 900 new jobs in the city, of which about 400 will be high-productivity,” said Georgy Semenenko, CEO of Kirovsky Zavod.

The investment project is expected to be implemented over six years, and will cost more than RUB 22 billion.
